What it is
The Pet Vaccination Tracker is a front‑end tool that helps dog, cat and small animal owners keep their pets’ vaccine schedules up to date. By selecting species, choice of vaccine and entering the date of the last dose, it calculates how many days remain until the next recommended vaccination or, if overdue, by how many days. The calculator uses standard veterinary intervals (e.g., rabies every 12 months) and accurately accounts for leap years. It gives a clear numeric reminder so owners can schedule appointments before exposure risk rises, reducing disease spread and treatment cost.
How to use it
Enter your pet’s species from the dropdown, choose the vaccine you’re tracking, then type the ISO date (YYYY‑MM‑DD) of the animal’s last dose. Input today’s date in the same format. The result shows the number of days until the next vaccination; a negative number indicates overdue days. Use this figure to schedule your visit or set a personal reminder.
Worked example
For a dog that received rabies on 2023‑01‑15, the standard interval is 365 days. Adding 365 days to 2023‑01‑15 gives the next due date of 2024‑01‑15. The time span from today’s date (2023‑10‑01) to that due date is 106 days:
- October has 31 days; remaining days after Oct 1 are 30. - November adds 30, bringing the total to 60. - December adds 31 for a subtotal of 91. - January through the 15th adds 15 more days, totaling 106 days. This positive result means the vaccine is due in 106 days.

Frequently asked questions
Can I track multiple vaccines at once?
This tool calculates one vaccine schedule per use. For each additional vaccine, repeat the calculations with its specific interval and last vaccination date. The web page can be kept open while you adjust inputs for other vaccines manually.
What if my vet recommends a different interval?
If your veterinarian uses a custom schedule, enter that interval by adjusting the mapping in the source or use the tool offline by editing the lookup table to reflect your own days. The calculator itself will then reflect those changes instantly.
